Re: Cannot access USB devices
install the extension pack and add your user to the vboxusers group.
Re: Cannot access USB devices
Extension pack and /etc/group were aalready set as suggested.
So - - no change = no USB devices (or ipod)

Also no shared folders.

Re: Cannot access USB devices
I have re-installed everything (making the VDI larger too).
USB is still greyed out. Plugging an iPod is not recognised.
I tried adding a filter (defaults) - but as I don't know what
these filters are supposed to do so it was long shot.
This is Linux Mint 17.2, hosting Window7Pro-sp1.

Re: Cannot access USB devices
Have you created a filter or do you go to the devices tab at the top and not see any device/s?when i plug a USB memory stick, or the iPod nothing happens, but Linux recognises them.
From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.
Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.
Re: Cannot access USB devices
I did create a filter (see previous posts) but notknowing what they do or exoect
I left it as "filter 1" "defaults"
as requested:

Re: Cannot access USB devices
Do you see the device in the device tab? Is it visible to the guest?
Re: Cannot access USB devices
Bit confused about exactly where this "device tab" is.
If you mean the Devices in WindowsExplorer, then no, only
the optical drive shows.
