Re: Cannot access USB devices
Nope. At the top of the guest there are some tabs. One is called devices. If you click on that you will see USB in the tree. From there you should see devices that can be used. Is the device you want listed there? Can you access it if you click the device?
Re: Cannot access USB devices
I have discovered that after a reboot, invoking VirtualBox shows USB enabled,
and USB2 selected.
But when I start the virtual m/c (windows 7 pro SP-1) I then find that in
VirtualBox the USB section is greyed out.

Re: Cannot access USB devices
Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.

Starting after a reboot, Vbox shows USB enabled and USB2 selected.
When I start the gueat (Windows 7 pro sp1) the Vbox USB settings
become greyed out.

Re: Cannot access USB devices - solved
No-one explained to me what "USB Filters" were all about.
I found out myself by trial and error.
Can now access shared folders, usb devices, and iPod

Re: Cannot access USB devices -iPOd fails
The Ipod is now recognised. It will not sync from iTunes. Apple were of no help.
The transfer starts, shows progress on the iPod, then "stops". This indicator on the
bottom bar shows usb activity, but the iPod shows none. After transferring maybe
20 songs, the iPod still appears empty.

Re: Cannot access USB devices
Not all USB devices work in a VM. Some of them are picky about timing which is not the forte of a VM, thus failing in the process of doing whatever they're supposed to do. Your iPod might be one of those cases. I know that my phone will synchronize its contacts sometimes, sometimes it won't. Depends on the stars, the tides and the mood of the gods up in mount Olympus.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
