Running Win10 TP guest, host is LInux Mint Petra 64bit.

Do you mean the "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox Guest Additions\install_drivers.log" referred to here? Or the log file on the host, in the VM directory?

The one in the VM directory labeled VBox.log

Do you have any other guests that are actually supported and do they work?

Windows10TechnicalPreview-x86-EN-US.iso Dated 2-Oct, downloaded on the 13th. Its MD5 is 781370cab9951117579dcdf38c12227f and it says it's build 9841.

I have about a half a dozen VMs on this host. But I have only been using VBox for about 4 years.

This is the only one of my current batch with GA issues. The others are Win7 and various Linux distros.

The reason I asked is I have heard reports that Win 10 32-bit does not work properly but the 64-bit does. Keep in mind that it will probably not work completely as it is not a release version and only has minimal support.

3GB is plenty of memory. The requirements state 1GB. Mine runs comfortably with 2GB.

At the moment there definitely seems to be a problem with the 32bit version of Windows 10 TP. For one thing the GAs won't install whether you are running a Mac or Linux host. There are other issues as well. The 64bit version runs on both although going to Full Screen and back on the Linux host doesn't seem to work correctly although it seems to work on the Mac host. Might be the difference in the GPUs.

I run the 64bit guests with 2GB of RAM (default) and 128MB VRAM (default).
the same for the 32bit guests. Windows 10 32bit does seem to run without the GAs installed.

Thanks all, this is good to know. I am used to giving 64b OS's at least 4G but glad to hear that's overkill.

This happens if the guest additions were already installed with 3D disabled in the VM settings (and crashed during install) and after that 3D was enabled and additions are installed again.

To fix the guest and install additions you have to enable 3D in the VM settings and then either:
a) reinstall W10 and install 4.3.18 guest additions from scratch;
or
b) run
VBoxWindowsAdditions-x86.exe /uninstall
in the guest. Reboot the guest (this is important). And then install additions again.

Generally to use W10 guest with VirtualBox 4.3.18:
1) use 'Windows 8.1' guest type when the VM is created;
2) enable 3D acceleration in the VM settings;
3) install 4.3.18 guest additions.

sunlover, is this just for the 32bit version? The reason I ask is because I had no trouble installing the GAs into the 64bit version of Windows 10. I had all sorts of issues getting the GAs installed in the 32bit version on both a Mac and Linux host.

loukingjr, this is for both 32 and 64 bit versions of W10.

Not sure why GA installation on W10 32 bit did not work for you. I had no problems with two W10 32 bit VMs.
