Shared folders unstable on Ubuntu7.04 Feisty host + XP Guest

Post by Voland »

I migrated a Windows XP SP2 virtual machine from VMWare Server to VirtualBox 1.4. Everything works very smooth and fine, except for VirtualBox shared folders. I am able to see their contents, read and write from and to them, but very often (at least ten times in a half-hour session as a bare minimum) explorer locks up while browsing. Sometimes it's just a matter of waiting some seconds (up to twenty), while in the worst cases it's necessary to kill it by means of TaskManager. I must point out that other shares in the network ("real" windows shares as well as Samba ones in external machines) work perfectly. As a workaround I'm using Host-networking and real SMB shares on host, but this is not an optimal solution for me, as I am often on the move, and I think this kind of networking requires an ehernet cable and switch plugged in to work properly (besides being, I think, much slower)...
