In German i would say GGG: Gesehen, gelacht, gelöscht.

This means in english: saw it, laughed, deleted.

At the moment its thought for developers to see how it looks in the future. For normal users Windows 8 is not usable. Nothing more, nothing less.

So i think the VBOX Team should not spent much time to solve problems that maybe not exist in the future.

Stefan,

Many of the people who use Virtual Box are developers, not "normal users."

Thanks for the info! Since the Guest Additions are part of the VB installer, it seems to me that the Mac installer may include a more up-to-date (signed) graphics driver than the Windows installer. One can hope that it'll be included in the next release of VB for Windows.
You're welcome. I'm running VB 4.1.6.

I'm not a developer but considering everything it seems fairly usable. I installed Firefox, VLC and iTunes so far.

edit: and GIMP.

Firstly, by NOT SHOUTING HERE, but ask normally. Then it's just RTM, or in this case, RTF/RTT.

Tried these settings (and others suggested in the forum) (when installing x64) and I consistently get blue screen with a sad smiley saying "Your PC ran into a problem that it couldn't handle, and now it needs to restart." error number 0xc000021a.

I managed to install x86 with no problem earlier, but I need x86 because of the dev tools. Anyone got past this?

And some of us like to fantasize we are developers, when we're not occupied with playing in an alternative reality.

Thank you for the very helpful specific answer. Far more helpful than some of the other responses rudely and wastefully posted here. This relative novice appreciates your service. :D

your situation is better than mine, when I try to install Windows 8 x64, the host machine restarts itself, any help. I'm using Arch Linux x86 as my host

Sounds like some kind of bug you have with VT-x/AMD-V. Do you have all the updates on your OS and BIOS?

Anyone able to get the new Consumer Preview of windows 8 to work under Windows beyond the plain resolutions of the generic vga driver? (Primarily X64). I'm able to unstall unsigned drivers now without hacking that, but installing the vbox driver caused a sad face on boot and windows had to fix itself hehe.

I find it somewhat ironic that people are having issues getting Windows 8 installed as a guest with a Windows or Linux host, yet the Mac version of VB seems to have no issues with it. On the other hand anything with Unity3d or Gnome3 continues to be a problem for the Mac VB version.
