Cant connect USB device to virtual XP box

Post by DocB »

Gents,

I run virtualbox 1.5.4 on SuSE 10.3. Under Machine -> USB, all attached USB-devices are greyed out - they cant be connected to the virtual machine.

I have already added

Code: Select all

none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=1000,devmode=666 0 0
to /etc/fstab, but that did not change anything.

What can be the problem?
Any hints are appreciated!
Thanks

.
Doesn't work with the open source version of VBox, the closed source version must be used.

A reboot is required after modifying fstab.

The devgid must be the gid of the vboxusers group.

Whichever user runs VBox, must be added to the vboxusers group.

Whichever user runs VBox, must be a member the usb, and or the usbfs groups.
