Linux host, Windows XP pro guest, XP join Windows Domain?

Post by sonicsteve »

Like the title says,
I'm running Ubuntu 7.10, fully updated as the Host system.
Virtualbox 1.5.4 binary (not OSE)

Windows XP pro as the guest.
The network has a windows domain that I would like the guest to join, in fact currently the guest can only see the internet, the domain and any workgroups are completely invisible to it.

I can ping the computers in the network, but nothing else.

Can this be done? Does it have something to do with bridging adapters?

thanks,

.
Yes, it has everything to do with bridging adapters.

You will need bridging in place, for it to work.

Linux host, Windows XP pro guest, XP join Windows Domain?

Post by ctorras »

Hi,

I have a Windows XP member of a domain running on a Ubuntu host. In order to do that I had to setup a bridge on my Ubuntu.

Previously I tried unsuccesfully to join the domain on NAT mode.

Before I discovered VirtualBox I used to run VMware, where Windows guests can join a domain on NAT mode.

Does anyone know if it possible on VirtualBox.

Thanks.
