After install of KB930916 can't boot due to ntfs.sys

Post by jt55401 »

Just did a fresh install of XPSP2, and installed all 100 or so windows update patches.

Box will no longer boot, complaining about ntfs.sys being missing or corrupt.

I launched the windows recovery console, and copied the ntfs.sys from there, and box boots great again, but wants to re-apply KB930916 by windows update, which then makes the box un-bootable again.

I will hobble along for now by not applying that patch, but does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

We have never seen a similar report like this. Which version of VBox are you using and what is your host system?
