Sound in Windows NT 4.0

Hi all,

Maybe this is an old problem which has solved a long time ago, but i can't hack it. Vbox version here is 3.2.6 r63112.
Host-System is Opensuse 11.3 x64, Guest is Windows NT 4.0 Sp6a. Selected soundcard is the SB16.
The problem is that NT4 can't find the card with the default parameters (I/O=220). I try to use another adresses, but each fail. Next try was with the AC97 card, but i can't find working NT4 drivers for this card (the setup programs won't run under NT). Maybe someone can tell me which .drv files i need to get enable the AC97 card or another solution to get the SB16 up and running.

Thanks for answers in advance

Hi,
now the SB16-Soundcard runs under NT 4.0. The solution was to disable the MPU401 Support (Port 330). After i did this NT 4.0 founds the card with the default parameters.

Could you give some more details or a link for what to do on the NT VM?
(My Google-fu fails me.)

Hi Mark,

this are my settings for a NT4-Machine:

Name: NT4
Guest Operating System: Windows NT 4
Memory: 128 MB
CPU's: 1
Boot order: HDD
VT-x/AMD-V: enabled
Nested Paging: enabled
Graphics memory: 16 MB
3D-acceleration: disabled
2D-Video-acceleration: disabled
Remote access: disabled
Massenspeicher
IDE-Controller
Primary Master: nt4.vdi (Normal, 2,00 GB)
Secondary Master (CD/DVD): Host-drive HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH20LS15 (sr0)
Floppy-Controller (works here only if the Host-OS Vista or Win7, under Linux there are access-problems, maybe a right-problem)
Floppy-drive 0: Host-drive 3.5" 1440 K (fd0)
Audio
Host-Driver: PulseAudio (If Linux is Host OS)
Controller: SoundBlaster 16
Network
Adapter 1: PCnet-FAST III (NAT)
Serial Ports
disabled
USB
disabled
Shared Folders: 1 (The default foldersharing like other win-OS (2k, XP, Vista, 7) won't work here. You have to create a folder an then share it with SMB (Samba), so NT4 can find it over connect with network drive with the IP-Adress of the Host-OS)

Hope it helps

Actually I was hoping for instructions for your "disable the MPU401 Support (Port 330)" step.
