Xp continuously reboots

Post by Buttons »

I'm having some issues again with xp in vb. Keeps rebooting non stop. I'm using xp pro 32 bit. I have the guest additions installed, but keeps saying the current video screen does not support mouse integration. It then shows the vb logo and attempts to login and reboots again.

Post the guests log file (as an attachment)
Also from the host command windows VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details --machinereadable and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use "" if the name has a space in it.

I deleted on the old vm, which the new one hasn't had the same issue. However, it won't load my external hard drive.

I'm not sure what you mean on the host command windows.

Edit: It just loaded my external hard drive.

Do a search for VBoxManage.exe. You need to be in that directory when you run the statement or add the .VirutalBox directory that has this file to you host environmental variables.

And now, did you find a solution ? I have the same problem on my Thinkpad SL410 with Ubuntu Lucid 64 as host, Virtualbox 3.2.0 and Windows XP sp3 as guest, but it works great on my two other computers with the same configuration.
I didn't have any problem on the Thinkpad with Karmic 64 and Virtualbox 3.1.8 with the same VID's file.

I confirm: You have to discard the two files "intelppm.sys" and "processr.sys" to solve the problem. That works for me. Thanks.
