UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error on migrated Win XP vdi

Post by jsbach1812 »

I have a WinXP image that is running fine under one machine running 1.5.0 OSE. I migrated that vdi file to another machine and created a new VM under a new install of 1.5.2. I get the Windows splash screen and then the BSOD UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME and then it reboots and back to the splash screen and then another BSOD and reboot.

Has anyone had any experience with something like this?

Thanks

******Update*************
Permissions on the copied vdi file were set to "nobody". Once that was changed everything ran fine.

What does "migrated" mean?
Do you use VBoxManage clonevdi or just copied the vdi?
Was there a saved machine state or were there some snapshots before cloning?

Better you use VBoxManage clonevdi for this.
