XP Guest Clipboard

Post by sselvia »

I am using the 1.5.2 version of VB and I can not get the clipboard to work within the VM guest. I have the Guest Additions installed and the install worked correctly. The VM settings is using "bidirectional" set for the clipboard. I cannot copy TEXT from the host to the guest nor the guest to the host, and finally within the guest.

Test case:

1. Create a text file on the desktop
2. Open the text file with word pad.
3. Type in some text.
4. Highlight the text.
5. Either Ctrl-C or Edit->Copy.
6. Try to paste in the same VM and document, either Ctrl-V or Edit->Paste.

The Paste menu item is greyed out and Ctrl-V does not work. Is there a missing setting for the VM? Or is this a bug?

After the unsuccessful copy and paste from the XP guest my host clipboard would not copy and paste files. Text yes, but files no, I had to do a reboot in order to copy and paste files again.

Fix with bug 824, the vboxclipb.zip did the trick. From the bug text it seems it will be part of 1.5.4
