Game name (developer, publisher): Magic the Gathering Online, WOTC
VBox version: 2.1.0
Linux version: Ubuntu 8.10
Windows version: Vista
VBox additions installed? No
HowTo install/run/uninstall: Installing and running ran just fine :)
Workarounds/notes? None needed thus far
And last but most important... A SCREENSHOT!!!!

Will post screen shots when I get home. Glad this worked, this game will not work under Cedega or Wine so I am glad to have a method of running it again with out having to dual boot :)

Grand Theft Auto

Post by Pitel »

Game name [developer / publisher]: Grand Theft Auto [DMA Design (now Rockstar North), Tarantula Studios / BMG Interactive, ASC Games, Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.]
VBox version: 2.1.0
Linux version: Ubuntu 8.04.2
Windows version: Windows XP Professional SP3
VBox additions installed?: Yes
HowTo install/run/uninstall: Download, extract, install, play. Press F11 in game to change resolution.
Workarounds/notes?: I used Steam version, so I just installed it as any other Steam game I own.
Screenshots: Not available. The game worked in VBox 2.1.0, but doesn't in 2.1.2, so I can't make screenshot :(

Why does the Grand Theft Auto game no longer work in Virtual Box 2.1.2? What symptoms are you getting when you attempt to run the game? :(

Main menu works, but when I want t start the game, it tries to chnage resolution, I see the menu twise, next to each other and in pinky colours, and then I just see the Windows window sating the aplicatio has crashed, and if I want to send report about it to M$

Any tips of getting HD working? No dice for me.

I am trying to run Heroes of Might and Magic 5 on a virtual XP host. Everything install fine including Direct 9c, but when I try to play the game it complains that it can not execute a program( security thing ) off the original cdrom even though it is in the dvd drive. Is there anything that needs to be set to allow XP gain full access to the dvd drive?

Fedora 8 x86_64 2.6.23.1-42.fc8
Virtual Box 2.1.2 w/ Guest Additions.

Im trying to get Total Annihilation to run. ubuntu 8.10 is my host and XP sp3 is my guest. 2 gigs total and 500 megs to the guest machine.
Total annihilation crashes when i try and start it up. Ive tried a fresh install and the install that was in my old XP system and both give the same crash. Ive installed guest additons and wine d3d. When i run the direct x tests they fail (at least one of them worked before i installed d3d.

hello,

i've tryed to play GTA SA with vbox 2.1.4 under GNU/Linux Debian Sid but when the game is launching i watch a black & white screen instead of Rockstar logo video. And in the menu i didn t see the name of menu ... i dont understand ... vbox guest edition is installed.
If you an idea to resolve this problem ?

Game name (developer, publisher): Deus Ex (Ion Storm / Eidos)
VBox version 2.14
Linux version openSUSE 11.0 / Kernel 2.6.25.20 / NVIDIA Drivers 180.something
Windows version Windows XP SP 2
VBox additions installed? Yes
HowTo install/run/uninstall As under Windows
Workarounds/notes? Mouse Pointer Integration must be OFF
Screenshot: Image

In case anyone wonders: Yes, it IS WinXP, I just use bb4win (bb_clean fork) as shell replacement.
If mouse pointer integration is ON, you won't be able to move around as the viewpoint will dance around wildly.
FMV video works, InGame-sequences work, gamplay seems to work, but I haven't gotten around to playing it much longer than the tutorial / first 2 minutes of the first level. Maybe it glitches out somewhen later...

Edit: Fixed Kernel Version. Damn drunk typos...

Windows version Windows XP SP 3

This "may" or may not qualify as a game...some portions of it is though while the other portions are tests

HowTo install/run/uninstall Runs directly from file

Game: QuakeLive(beta) (in progress)
VBox vs: 2.2.0
Linux vs: Gentoo x86_64 using 2.6.27.6
X Drivers: nvidia-drivers-180.51
Windows vs: Windows XP w/ SP3
VBox additions installed? yes
HowToInstall/Run: Requires QuakeLiveIE.msi (for IE) or QuakeLiveNP.msi (FF) installed, and reboot. Account login required w/ valid email.
Workarounds/notes:Disable Mouse Integration and play with mouse sensitivities in-game and out. Attempts to leave a match/arena result in browser crash; experience this with FF and IE. OpenGL DOES WORK!!! (meaning you can actually play a match) OpenGL did not quite function with VBox 2.1.4 and nvidia-drivers-180.44, that has been resolved. Other than the browser crash problem, which I'll report back to id, I'm playing an Windows only ActiveX(for content I believe) required game, which utilizes OpenGL through the VM, running on 64 bit Linux. This thing cool or what!!!
