Well, still not working.

I created a new virtual machine under vmware 7 (ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell optiplex 960).

Got same error as previous build : network offline).

I've tried net|bridge without any progress.

Do you have a offline login account build-in in your image?

why is everyone downloading these warez copies instead of just compiling it?

is it particularly hard to compile or haven't google released the whole thing yet (so you can't compile?)

People are lazy by nature. If they can get a copy that is ready to run, they use that instead of waiting for the compile to finish. And not everyone has the right compile tools (Windows anyone?).

Compiling isn't particularly hard. Google has already released the entire project source code to the public.

However, chromiumos source code isn't always buildable at all times. You have to check the state of the waterfall.

The current build works on Xen properly. You should download the latest image.

It is very easy to convert a VMDK image file to a Xen HVM domU image file if you want Google Chrome OS to work in a Xen environment as a fully virtualized guest operating system.

This is the guarantee that my latest build of chromiumos VMware virtual machine vmdk image will work with Xen (conversion required), VMware Workstation & Player, and Sun VirtualBox.

In Germany we call such things "GGG"-Software ("Gesehen gelacht gelöscht" = have a look at, loughed, deleted).

Thats a real Windows Killer. At the moment Windows 1 Prealpha is gone to be killed.

To try Google chrome OS beta you require a USB drive. You will have to command your computer’s BIOS to boot from the USB drive rather than the hard drive like it normally does. When you boot up your PC, it should give you with information as to how to bring up a boot menu. On some PCs you have to press F8 key and on others F12 key or some other key.

I cant understand the hype. Its nothing else then a combination like linux kernel, x-server and firefox.
