Hi,
Created a new VM using 3.0.4. Unable to establish any network connectivity with the WinXP SP3 guest. I basically accepted all the defaults when I created the VM.
Any simple troubleshooting, or if anyone has a suggestion for a quick fix, I would appreciate it.

Re: no network connectivity with XP Guest inside OSX Host
Perhaps you could give us a little more information.
Such as what are the settings in the network section of the guest.
Maybe what you changed since you said basically you accepted the defaults.

Re: no network connectivity with XP Guest inside OSX Host
Thanks,
Currently I'm using the defaults (Adapter Type: PCnet-FAST III (AM79C973), Attached to : NAT).
I experimented with the other adapter types but none of them worked either.
I have tried it both with and without my VPN connected, and still no connectivity.
What should the Local Area Network properties be for the Network connection in Windows? When I start the VM, the network icon in the winxp tray displays "acquiring network address", but it never connects.
Does this help, or do you need additional info?

Re: no network connectivity with XP Guest inside OSX Host
I changed the Network adapter type to intel PRO/1000 T Server (NAT), and I now have connectivity. Whoo-ahhh.

Re: [Not Solved] No network connectivity with XP Guest
it seems that when I autostart my guest OS (Win XP), there will be no network connectivity no mater what I did.
tried: ipconfig /renew (inside guest OS), tried unchecking the Adapter (from Virtualbox)
This may be related to when I boot my host OS, there is originally no network. The network connectivity is activated after the host OS (ubuntu 9.04) boots.
That is:
1) Ubuntu boots up,
2) autostarting Win XP (using "VBoxManage startvm WinXP" from "Ubuntu's Startup Applications").
3) network connectivity gets established.
4) Ubuntu has network connectivity but WinXP in virtualbox doesn't (no mater what I tried)
When I reboot the Win XP in virtualbox, there will be connectivity:
That is:
1) network connectivity exist
2) shutdown Win XP (autostart instance)
3) Start Win XP via Applications -> System Tools -> Sun VirtualBox -> Win XP -> Start
3) WinXP now has connectivity.
Did I miss out something from my VBoxManage command?
Under Virtualbox, Network settings is:
- Adapter Type: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop
- Attached to: NAT
Let me know if you need any more information. (actually the two instance are the same only started via different methods).
