No sound in windows vista

Post by d0sgamesrul »

Hi, sorry if this is a very frequently asked question, but I've looked everywhere I cant find a solution. I have vista installed as guest under xp as host. I installed the guest additions, and they detected the network adapter, and so I have net in vista. But there's no sound. I cant find any drivers in the guest additions, nor anywhere on the net for the emulated multimedia controller for vista in virtualbox. Does someone know where to find that driver?

Thanks in advanced

Make sure you have sound turned on in your virtual machine's settings

Yes, I have sound turned on, and it's set to directsound. On vista, it shows as no sound driver is installed.

If your mainboard is using Realtek AC97, go to their web site and download the Vista audio drivers.

If your mainboard is NOT using Realtek AC97, find the audio chip set belong to (Control Panel-- Device manager) and get the latest audio driver from them.
