Windows networking not working for some computers

Post by ELMIT »

I have a notebook with Ubuntu 7.04 and a desktop with Ubuntu 7.04. Both have Samba server running.

On the desktop I have installed VirtualBox. I can use samba with the host / guest system. However, if I try to access the notebook, I get the error:

\\Ronald-CS-LAPTOPronald-cs-laptop server (Samba, Ubuntu) is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

There are other computers on the network in the same Workgroup. However, I can only see one other (Windows) machine.

I am sure it is just a small thinking error, but what I am thinking (wrong).

bye

On your desktop you have Ubuntu as host with a windows guest in a virtual machine. Your Laptop has no virtual machine. Right?
From your laptop you want to access a share on your windows guest.
Or a share on your Desktop host?
Or do you use NFS for this?
Do you want to access a share on your laptop from the windows guest?
Or what is it?
