Install Guest Additions = Black screen

I am running Novell SLED and VBox 1.5 with a Windows XP guest. When I install the Guest additions and reboot I just get a black screen until I reset the guest. I am trying to get the seamless feature working. Help.

Is this just an oddity? Is there no resolution.
