mapping to external share (not using shared folders)

Hello,

I'm looking for some clarification on the following extract from the help, in particular the part in bold :
Two limitations of NAT mode should be mentioned. First, finding Windows shares
by browsing is not possible in the default configuration (although they can still be
accessed if you know the name or the IP address of the machine that is sharing them
).
Does this mean that I should be able to map a network drive using the computer name ?

eg. \\nameofcomputer\sharename

I have tried this and it doesn't work, although

\\192.168.1.1\sharename does work (not a big problem using the IP)

As I say just looking for clarification on whether this should be possible ?

Host and Guest = Windows XP.

TIA

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the reply.

I am using NAT, and indeed the gateway is 10.0.2.2 , should mapping by name therefore be possible ?

Thanks
