When virtualbox 1.5 is run as root with audio enabled, audio works fine.
However, when virtualbox is closed, all linux audio is disabled. Reastarting alsa does not fix the problem, the only fix I've found is to reboot.
This is not a problem when I run virtualbox as a normal user (which is what I'm doing now).

You should never run VBox as root. It's simply asking for trouble.
(mostly permission problems)
You can file a bug report for the audio problem here: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Bugtracker

Its only a problem when run as root. Should I still file it?
