winXP graphics problem running directX game (X3 Reunion)

Post by mcmillanje »

Hi all, First Post! :D

Sad to say i didn't seek out a vbox forum till I got a problem, but hey, maybe you guys can help.

I'm trying to get the game X3 Reunion to work on my system
I've posted on the egosoft forums as well, topic here: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 78#2828978

To make a long story short, the game doesn't seem to detect my graphics card resolutions, and therefore malfunctions.

Here's a piece of my DXDiag report:

Code: Select all

---------------
Display Devices
---------------
        Card name: VirtualBox Graphics Adapter
     Manufacturer: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
        Chip type: VBOX
         DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
       Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_80EE&DEV_BEEF&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_00
   Display Memory: 128.0 MB
     Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
          Monitor: Default Monitor
  Monitor Max Res:
      Driver Name: VBoxDisp.dll
   Driver Version: 2.01.0004.0000 (English)
      DDI Version: unknown
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
 Driver Date/Size: 2/16/2009 09:06:44, 65680 bytes
      WHQL Logo'd: n/a
As you can see, directX has no trouble with my resolution. I've asked on the game forum if there's any config file I can edit or any other workaround. on the virtualbox side, is there anything I can do? I don't know where to start.
If there's any other info i should provide please let me know. :)
