Opengl not working XP

Post by freakazo »

Hi all, for some reason opengl isn't working (hardware acceleration that is).
here's an extract from the log:
"
00:00:00.717 Initializing host clipboard service
00:00:00.721 Shared clipboard: starting host clipboard thread
00:00:00.721 VBoxSharedClipboard mode: Bidirectional
00:00:00.991 OpenGL Info: Render SPU: GL_VENDOR: NVIDIA Corporation
00:00:00.991 OpenGL Info: Render SPU: GL_RENDERER: GeForce 8800 GT/PCI/SSE2
00:00:00.991 OpenGL Info: Render SPU: GL_VERSION: 2.1.2 NVIDIA 180.11
00:00:00.995 Shared crOpenGL service loaded
"
(this is the only part in the log file relating to opengl that I could find)

guest additions is installed, and I just installed wined3d. But opengl wasn't working before I installed wined3d so wined3d didn't brake it.
I'm using Virtualbox 2.1.4 and ubuntu 8.10, guest additions is installed. Opengl works on the host. (and d3d9)

I don't know if the d3d9_test comes with wined3d but when I run it it says something about opengl required/not found. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First time posting here so I hope I added all the things that you may need.

I am so sorry, I made a spelling mistake in the original post (I said opengl is working when it's not working)

Sorry about that.
Anyone know how to fix the opengl problem?

Didn't update it, as in the sense of update manager, but I used the guest additions that comes with 2.1.4 and I also used the guest additions of 2.2 beta (just to see if it fixed the problem).

At the moment I'm reinstalling linux to a new hard drive, to see if I messed up something else that is interfering. A more vanilla like environment so that we can be sure.
Also is there a log file for the guest additions?

Disabling AMD-V helped, opengl get's accelerated now :)

Although catia V6 crashed still crashes, that's no biggie. Thanks stefan.becker!
