Problems with DirectDraw in v1.5.0

Post by SauronSLO »

Hi!

I'm having some problems with DirectDraw in v1.5.0.
When I'm going in DirectX Diagnostic Tool and run DirectDraw test I can't see nothing. If I reduce Hardware acceleration under Display Properties/Advanced/Trubleshoot (Picture 1), then I can see something, but only where I drag mouse pointer (Picture 2). It looks like picture is refreshing only under mouse pointer.
I tried this with WinXP SP1 (DirectX 8.1) and WinXP SP2 (DirectX 9.0c) and I have the same problem. Is this a bug or I'm doing something wrong?

Did you install the 1.5.0 guest additions?

Out of curiousity, what's your host OS and what video adapter in the host?

I'm seeing the same thing on an older Sony VAIO with a Radeon chipset under Ubuntu 7.04. (FWIW, I also have desktop effects enabled.)

Same problem here, DDraw now doesn't work.

VBox 1.5.0 from your Ubuntu repository, Ubuntu 7.04, x86, Ati Radeon 9550 with fglrx drivers.

Bug is already reported http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/618

Disable Hardware Acceleration

Post by the_camel »

I think I had the same problem...

it disappeared as soon as I dissabled the Hardware Acceleration completely in the Display Settings

Hi,

Did you disable HW Acceleration in the Guest or the Host OS, and how?

Thanks,

Heya,

running Windows XP SP2 Pro using VirtualBox OSE SVN revision 5995 with Guest Additions from VirtualBox 1.5.2(not SVN/OSE). DirectDraw test passes without any problems. HW Acceleration is fully enabled.

Maybe use a newer VirtualBox version? E.g. the recent release, 1.5.2
