No Audio in Windows 7

I'm running a 32 bit version of Windows 7 as guest under a 32 bit version WinXP Pro host but I can't get any audio from Windows 7. I tried using the Soundblaster and AC97 audio controllers, but nothing. And Windows Audio is turned on. Has anyone gotten audio to work on Windows 7 Client? If so, how?

Thanks.

No, but audio works in VirtualPC and VMWare so the fault probably lies in VirtualBox.

Soundblaster cant work.

Try AC97 Intel and then make a Windows Update in the Guest.

It will work if you set Windows Directsound
and ICH AC97.

In Windows 7, install Realtek soundriver for AC97.

BTW Windows Update will automatically apply this patch for the audio controller... one does not have to go and find the AC97 driver and manually install it.

Not in a Vista Home Premium x64 guest.

Hi Guys,
I have read a couple of similar threads about this kind of problem, but none of the recommendations helped me out. So, I have changed to Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit from XP. There is no sound on my PC, Just hear a quick noise when something should have a sound. One day ago it worked great, so there shouldn't be any hardware issue.I have got an ASUS P5B motherboard with a built in sound card.I have tried:
- Windows updating the driver several times, not helped
- installed Realtek latest driver, not helped.
It's quite unbelievable that such problem is there out. Could somebody help me with any recommendation?
Thanks

Look in "Windows Guests" section. I provided a solution.

This is what I had to do to finally get it to work:

1) In windows 7, download AC97 drivers from realtek website (http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/dow ... Down=false)

2) Unpack and install realtek drivers. (At one point in the process it got stuck in this loop where I kept having to press 'Allow Driver Install' until I finally said 'Do not Allow' -- still installed though..)

3) Restart windows. If still not working then click on start button, right click on 'Computer' and select 'Properties'. Go to device manager and right click on the audio device. Click 'Update Drivers'. Select the option 'Browse for Driver' and select the unpacked realtek driver folder. Should install and then work fine.

I have also faced this kind of problem. But I solved that also. After the driver setup the sound is not coming then only one thing you can do is window updates. Your OD automatically check for the updates and handle the problems also. I think you can solve it now. Just take the ride for updates.
