4th and 5th mousebuttons don't work

Post by thejensman »

hello,
I installed WinXP SP2 inside VirtualBox (V2.1.0). I want to use this machine as a browsing "pc". But my 4th and 5th mousebuttons (with these I can easily navigate for- and backwards within the firefox browser) don't work.

When I try to activate the usb host and to set the filter on my mouse the mouse freezes in the host-system and the cursor isn't visible inside the vm, althoug the 4th and 5th mouse buttons then work. but because my host-mouse is freezed I have to use ctrl-alt-del to terminate virtualbox to get back the control of my mouse.

So I'd like to know how I can easily use my 4th and 5th mousebutton within my guest os (win xp sp2).

Thanks for your help!!!!!!

You already have button 4 and 5 on your Guest, just not any button above that. 4 and 5 are the scroll wheel buttons (up and down). The side buttons for navigation are either registered as 6 and 7, or 8 and 9. These cannot be used in VB, as VB will emulate a simple 3 button scroll mouse.
