VirtualBox freezes computer...

Hi
I'm using Feisty 64bit kubuntu with latest virtualbox in repo. When i get to the login screnn on windows xp, it freezes my entire computer. The cpu usage goes max and the hdd light stays on continuosly. The only way out is a hard shutdown of the computer. I dont know what the problem is. it used to happen when i tryed to format the virtual hdd from winxp install. Can anyone help me?
