VMMDev: vmmDevHeartbeatFlatlinedTimer: Guest seems to be unresponsive. Last heartbeat received 4 seconds ago
The log is attached.
Only Reset or Power Off have any effect.
Sometimes the guest stays up for more than 30 minutes.
The freeze usually happens when my mouse is doing something in Windows, such as moving a window.
It happened many times in the System Update page while only moving the pointer.
I don't know if it was happening before the Vbox upgrade,
as I used this VM no more than once a week to do a 15 minute job,
which I can still do, with a bit of luck.
I stayed off-line and avoided upgrades.
Edit: It has happened earlier; I zipped/saved the log folder 6 months ago; 'vmmDevHeartbeatFlatlinedTimer' happened 9 times in 2 days. But I have a vague memory that it was solved by some VBox/EP/GA upgrade. |
I also updated the Extension Pack, and this guest's GA.
This week I bought Office 2021
(for some new work that I need to do),
and before installing it, applied all Windows11 upgrades.
(22H2 is not available to me yet.)
Before starting that, I zeroed and compacted the vdi, and made a snapshot.
(The first snapshot of this VM.)
It seemed to be running fine after that, but I didn't keep it on for long.
During upgrading the system, and installing Office, it froze frequently.
But it always restarted without any problem.
This morning I worked on it for more than 30 minutes, no problem.
Then I downloaded some language packs for Word,
and it last froze during download, or install, of a language pack.
I tend to blame Windows, until eventually the thought comes that it might be a VirtualBox problem.
