Win 7 Optical Drive Passthrough Disrupting DVD ROM performance

Post by ThijsG »

Hey,

So I'm trying to get some old games running on a Windows 7 guest using virtualBox version 6.1.40, but I've run into a problem for which I haven't found a solution on here yet.

I've created an IDE optical drive for the optical drive connected to my host computer and I'm able to install the games.
After installation, when I want to run the game, I get the error "Insert correct DVD ROM".
What I've read here is that this can be solved by enabeling Passthrough on the Optical Drive.

However, when I do this and then try to run the game, there is no reaction from the disc in the optical drive.
I get a short instance that the system is loading something and then nothing.
Another odd thing is that once I do this, I'm not able to shut the system down as it keeps haning on "Shutting Down..."
It seems that the system is doing something, but can't proceed.

Is there something that I'm missing?

If all went well, the log file should be attached.

Thanks in advance for any help!
