Windows XP crashes

Post by bonzy »

My Windows XP which used to work for quite a long time now crashes every time I start it. I can enter the safe mode but that doesn't help me in my use-case I think. I'm trying to play some old games in that.

I uploaded the log and wasn't able to make something out of it. Can you please help me or let me know how to debug this myself? I'm familiar with coding and have an IT degree so feel free to give me some advice based on my background. :)

7.0 is having trouble running XP. It'll get fixed eventually. Meanwhile go back to the version you were running before, and check that the Guest Additions in the VM aren't 7.0's also.

I would try ditching Hyper-v, which you have enabled on your host.

See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).

Thank you, that helped. I was on an older version and basically tried to fix it by updating to the most recent one.

Not a good idea when the latest is an early release of a new version (V6 to V7). A new version is a major change and the early ones usually have a few teething problems.

I would have tried the latest release of the same version (ie V6.1.40).

Thank you for your responses! The issue is fixed for me, reverted to 6.1.40 :)
