I am trying to migrate a working virtualbox image to another computer.
Host Linux deb guest Win 7
I copy over the "Virtualbox VM" folder to the new machine and make sure permissions are correct for the new user.
I start Virtualbox, and import the image.
The Image now appears in the list of virtual machines.
When I go to settings, unfortunately settings is uneditable.
I need to switch off AMD-V for this machine, but cannot do so.
Any change in settings is ignored.
I even did a chmod 777 on the entire "Virtualbox VM" to make sure all permissions are granted.
Still the same problem.
So what is the reason that Virtualbox blocks any edits to the settings ?
Migration issues
Re: Migration issues
It was not running at all.
Under the same conditions I can edit the settings on the original host. Under same conditions I cannot edit the settings on the target host. Makes no sense.
So what you suggest is the problem not relevant.
Thanks for the migration howto. I do everything right according to the Howto, and is using version 6.1 so the bug is not the issue.

Re: Migration issues
Under the name of the VM in the list, it shows the status of the VM: running, powered off, aborted, saved state, etc.zimbodel wrote:It was not running at all.
What does your VM say?
