Should Guest Addititions work for Win 98 guest and Mac High Sierra OS host?

I hope this preliminary question doesn't repetitiously cover well-trodden ground, but I'm new to Virtualbox.

On Mac OS High Sierra host and Win 98 guest, should guest additions work? If yes, I'll post further details of the issue.

Nope. There aren't any Guest Additions provided for Win98. See the user manual for a list of Guests which are supported by GAs.
