Re: Cannot Install Windows 10/11 on VirtualBox
Windows 11 won't work with the current version of VirtualBox unless you make a number of tweaks because of its hardware restrictions, just as you need to with a non-compliant PC.
Windows 10 should not be a problem. It is hard to imagine how to help with so little information. How did you install the OS in the vm? Did you boot from the ISO file? Did the installation run successfully? If not, where did the vm reboot? Or did the host PC reboot?
What OS is running on the host PC?

Re: Cannot Install Windows 10/11 on VirtualBox
Are you saying that the host reboots during the installation process, or that a working VM was suddenly not working after a host reboot.
If the former, then that would be bad host hardware of some kind.
If the latter then provide a VM log file for the Win10 case. Make sure the Win10 VM is fully shut down, then right click it in the manager UI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here using "Upload attachment".

Hello, for Windows 11 I had changed the registry to make it works but it didn't work anyway.BillG wrote:Windows 11 won't work with the current version of VirtualBox unless you make a number of tweaks because of its hardware restrictions, just as you need to with a non-compliant PC.

Actually I'm using a Kali Linux distro as host pc.
I install the OS on the VM just by mounting the .iso files and then installing Windows, the installation runs but when the pc reboot it doesn't works and get an error when it try to resume the installation.
I mean the VM reboot to continue the installation, not the host (:
Thank you!

Hello, the VM reboot not the host. It reboot to continue the installation after the reboot but when it try to resume the installation I get an error message, now I will try to get the log and send them! I do not click on offsite links. Please follow the instructions I gave for how to attach a zipped log.

Re: Cannot Install Windows 10/11 on VirtualBox
VirtualBox 6.1.34 and 6.1.97r150532 do not support Linux kernel 5.18 on the host and will produce random crashes in the guest (pun intended ). See 20914 and Windows 10 Guest on Linux host dies seconds after boot for details.
The VirtualBox test builds 6.1.35r151864 (and newer) are supposed to support Linux kernels 5.18, 5.17.12+, 5.15.44+, 5.10.119+ and more on the host and in the guest.

Re: Cannot Install Windows 10/11 on VirtualBox
That log still shows you using VirtualBox 6.1.34, plus it's the Debian third party build, which is not supported here.
And btw, Windows 10 on one core is not fun, always set it to 2 cores.
Please install the official 6.1.35 test build that fth0 indicated.00:00:00.606530 VirtualBox VM 6.1.34_Debian r150636 linux.amd64 (Jun 7 2022 12:12:22) release log

Re: Cannot Install Windows 10/11 on VirtualBox
I am seeing the same issue on two different windows 10 systems where i am trying to install win 10 21H2 on the guest and the install takes forever. the copying of files goes quick, but the prepparing files for installation takes several hours and even then i get the same errors the gentlemen below has been reporting.
there are no log errors or anything the guest just fails to install. is there a logging setting i need to turn on to get more information out of it?

@SCurtis_VIS, it it recommended that if you feel the need to post on a topic that you think has your same problem, you should try the solutions posted in the topic first. Please do so, then post in a new topic with your results if the solutions don't work.
