Trying to install Windows 10 guest comes up with funny graphics

vbox 6.1.34 on Windows 10 64 bit host
Attempting to install Windows 10 64 bit guest
Briefly shows the windows logo, then goes to checkerboard
Tried all combinations of video drivers and 3d enabled/disabled
i9 on asus rog, virt enabled, 48GB RAM
RX580 GPU
all drivers up to date

If you have Intel Power Gadget installed, uninstall it for a test.

Please reduce images to a reasonable size before posting. E.g. by cropping to show only the relevant part. We didn't need to see a 2K image, especially one that has had the life compressed out of it! Though it should be said that the text is at least visible.

This usually happens when there are not enough resources available to run the vm properly. One possible cause is that the Windows hypervisor is loaded. See this guide.
