Hello everyone,
I never find a solution for this problem !!??
Environment :
VirtualBox version 6.1.30 running on Windows 10
Linux host/guest (CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows
The problem
To send 'special key' to the OS guest, I have to use the AltGr key combination : using an Belgian keyboard I have, for example, to use the combination keys "AltGr + <" to send an \ to the guest. But it is not working !!
Work-around:
1°) use the "Soft Keyboard" (Input/Keyboard/Soft Keyboard)
2°) use copy/paste : edit the character I want in an editor at the Windows OS (the one which run VirtualBox) and then copy it in he Guest OS !!
I never found any "pleasant / real" solution for this problem ; which I believe, is an commun one !
Could someone help me ?
Thanks a lot
Alain

Re: AltGr key not send to host
Hi,
Already try this solution:
# Keyboard logging
set VBOX_RELEASE_LOG="+DEV_KBD=~0+USB_KBD=~0"
"C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VirtualBoxVM" --startvm "VM name"
But still doesn't work !
Thanks
Regards

Re: AltGr key not send to host
Enabling more detailed logging is not meant as a solution. The other thread contains a lot of information about how to analyze your problem, which is not that common BTW. I don't think that many VirtualBox users have problems using the AltGr key in the host and in the guest.

Re: AltGr key not send to host
SORRY !! SORRY !!
I have further analyze my problem : this is due to using thinvnc as remote desktop !!
I have perform some test (see attachement) :
1 Laptop to access 1 PC running Windows 10 with Virtualbox through thinvnc : locally it is working but not through thinvnc !!??
The same laptop to access Windows 10 Pro running Virtualbox trough microsoft remote control (mstc) : every thing is fine !!
The problem is bound to thinvnc !!
So it is not a Virtualbox problem but well thinvnc !!
If you still get me some clue to fix it I will appreciate
Sorry for the trouble
Regards

Re: AltGr key not send to host
Good detective work. So the AltGR key works through MS RDP but not through ThinVNC. This sounds like it is a problem with ThinVNC, not Virtualbox. Please ask ThinVNC about this problem.
Two pieces of advice:
1. The first post did not mention any remote software at all. The problem appeared to be happening when you were using the VM at the host keyboard. Please tell the full story in the first post, so the volunteers who try to help start looking in the correct place.
2. The English language strongly discourages excessive use of ! and repeated ?'s in sentences. It wears out your readers. Periods . should be used instead, and consider ! as a strong spice to be used very sparingly. One ? for a question.
