Guru Meditation on Mac with Bootcamp Windows

Post by freenrg »

Hi,
My VirtualBox MV goes into Guru Meditation shortly after starting it. See attached logs.

I am new to VirtualBox, but I see the following interesting entries in the log:

00:00:08.199404 ERROR [COM]: aRC=VBOX_E_VM_ERROR (0x80bb0003) aIID={4680b2de-8690-11e9-b83d-5719e53cf1de} aComponent={DisplayWrap} aText={Could not take a screenshot (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED)}, preserve=false aResultDetail=-37

00:00:47.011311 !! VCPU0: Guru Meditation -75 (VERR_MAP_FAILED)

In case this was related to guest RAM memory setting, I have tried with different sizes of guest RAM: 2GB, 3GB, 4GB, and I get the same outcome.

Any ideas on what to try?

The screenshot errors can be ignored. I think they relate to inability to update the Preview in the main Virtualbox window during various stages of booting the VM.

I believe it is:
RAM settings:
00:00:04.222799 Host RAM: 8057MB (7.8GB) total, 3103MB (3.0GB) available
00:00:04.420281 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000100000000 (4 294 967 296, 4 096 MB, 4.0 GB)
Not enough host RAM.

Host free RAM can fluctuate too. If host happens to have only 1GB free RAM because of other programs or VMs running, even 2GB would fail.

Try rebooting the host then starting the VM before anything else.

Thank you scottgus1.

Unfortunately, I deleted the problematic VM by mistake (not giving it much thought and not realizing I would need it to test any suggestions). My apologies for that.

I created a similar new VM with less RAM and so far there has been no guru meditation.
If it happens again, I will look at the RAM issue first.

Thank you.
