Virtual Screens Jumping to Host Screen 1

Post by AndruWitta »

I am using a Windows 10 Guest on a Linux Mint Host with multiple screens.

I do not use full screen mode because I want access to the Mint Toolbar to switch desktops and run apps in Mint.
I arrange the screens and maximise them. This works well for me.

My issue is that when I leave the PC for a while, the screens all jump onto Host Screen 1, whether the Mint screen saver has kicked in or not.
The Win 10 Screen Saver has been disabled, and I have extended the power settings to not turn off for 4 hours - the screen jump happens over lunch usually less than 1 hour!

I have searched for this in many places - it has been happening for more than one year (through Mint and VBox updates) on two matched screens.
I have added a 3rd screen, and because it is a different layout, I have to rearrange all my windows every time. :?

Please help ...

Mint System:
Kernel: 5.4.0-84-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 9.3.0
Desktop: Cinnamon 4.6.7 Distro: Linux Mint 20 Ulyana
base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal

Update 2021-09-26: Tried xfce - still happens
