Ubuntu window goes Black on VirturalBox

Post by DLGold »

Hi guys,

I have used Ubuntu on VirtualBox for a while, however, last night after cancelling an unsuccessful update of Visual Studio in Ubuntu Store (on VB), every time I start Ubuntu on VirtualBox, the window always goes black and nothing comes out.

Have checked many online solutions (display settings or other settings), none of them work for me. Before this issue happened, I didn't touch any settings and it worked well.

Please help me figure it out. Thanks!

If the update was unsuccessful because the VM's disk ran out of space, Ubuntu is known to go black-screen on physical PCs or VMs when the disk fills up completely.

Web-search how to log on to Ubuntu via text only and delete files by command line. Clear some space then the desktop should have room to start. Then see How to Resize a Drive
