I'm trying to set up a VM with a macrium image for some testing and no matter what I try the minute i mount and begin installing guest additions it gets to about 75% and hangs.
Installing mouse driver ...
Executing "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox Guest Additions\VBoxDrvInsta.exe" dri...
and thats all I can see due to the size of the window and the fact I cant resize it due to a seemingly hard-hang at that point.
Is this a me thing or a known thing or a thing with a workaround?
Windows 10 guest hangs on Installing mouse driver with GA

Might happen if there are other drivers in place from wherever the Macrium image came from.
Where did that image come from?
Where did that image come from?
Re: Windows 10 guest hangs on Installing mouse driver with GA
I created it ala viboot from my own personal backup. It's going to be (hopefully) used heavily to help facilitate the windows 10 > 11 transition assuming I can get it to function.scottgus1 wrote:Might happen if there are other drivers in place from wherever the Macrium image came from.

Anything I can do to work around it?

I'll assume this means a physical PC. So:klepp0906 wrote:viboot from my own personal backup
Uninstall all drivers for physical hardware inside the VM's OS before installing the Guest Additions. Web-search how to do this.scottgus1 wrote:other drivers [are] in place
The 'hardware' in the VM will be different than the physical PC, so the OS will require re-activation with a different license.

/facepalm I probably should have thought of that.scottgus1 wrote:I'll assume this means a physical PC.
