"Invalid settings detected" but not allowing changes

Post by rasiel »

Hey guys,

Hoping for a little help. I upgraded my Windows box with a new MSI B550M and Ryzen 5950x. The VM is unable to start because it apparently doesn't like the NIC (Realtek RTL8125B 2.5Gb). But I can't even begin to troubleshoot that because it's also choking on hardware virtualization. Even when I turn it off the OK button remains grayed out (screenshot attached)

Halp?

Many thanks,
Rasiel

I solved my own problem. The solution is to enable virtualization on the BIOS. In the case of MSI you have to do a search for "SVM" and then enable and F10 to save changes. After reboot the VM should work as before.

Ps. MSI BIOS sucks

The Para-Virtualization API enable setting pictured above has absolutely nothing with any host features (i.e. AMD's SVM). These are settings that make modern (hypervisor aware) Windows and Linux guest swork better in a VM. So if you changed the para-v setting then please change it back to Default. Also enable nested paging.
