How To Find Win. 10 Failed Install Rollback Logs In VirtualBox

Hello All,

I have been trying to do a clean test-install of Windows 10 on VirtualBox with an attached ISO to start from, but each time the installation fails with the "Windows could not Configure One or More System Components" error at the "Getting Ready" point, & since no desktop has yet been configured to make any folders visible or any options available except either using Advanced Repair or Shift+ F10 to open the CMD prompt, I need to know how to access & view the Rollback logs in the "Sources" folder towards troubleshooting- what is the specific command sequence used in order to do this, & also possibly save the log file to notepad?

I can't find anything pertaining to the attempted install in either the Vbox or hardening logs, so the info must be in the invisible logs, thanks.

My guess is that you have a faulty installation package. Are you using the iso file from Microsoft?

Yes, but it's been slipstreamed with NtLite, & the source ISO successfully installed with no problems.

The slipstreamed ntLite ISO may be bad. Alternatively, Windows 10 adores having two processors. If you have set to 1, go to 2. If this does not help, then the ntLite process has bunged up.

You would have to web-search where to find the VM OS logs you desire. They would be inside the VM OS and/or the installation environment set up by the ISO. You have already found the Virtualbox logs, and it does not sound like you are having a Virtualbox problem.

Thanks,

And you are correct about it not being a Virtualbox problem; I started the saved win.10 machine VM with the attached ISO to restart the install process, but instead of clicking OK upon getting the error message to restart the installation, I did a Shift+F10 into command prompt so I could CD to the setup.log, which I opened using notepad.exe. Since no desktop or sharing was available due to corruption, I actually searched in Bing using ie from the Notepad drop-down menu, went to my gmail, then attached the logs to send myself. A hairy process, but now I can properly troubleshoot, thanks for your feedback.
