XP Shows Game in Removable Storage "D" But Will Not Run
XP Shows Game in Removable Storage "D" But Will Not Run
I have a Dell XPS laptop which has no physical CD Drive. Windows 10 Home Edition is the OS on the laptop. I have installed Windows XP in Virtualbox to play an old game, Tom Clancy SSN. My previous laptop has the CD Drive which I used as the Host CD in Virtualbox, it loaded and ran with no issues. In Virtualbox I've created a Virtual Optical Disk for XP and use an ISO File of SSN to play in XP's CD Drive D. I have been able to install the game on via the CD Drive on XP. After installation when I try to run the game the prompt states "Insert SSN CD in Drive D" even though XP reflects SSN already is loaded in it's CD Drive D. Anyone have any thoughts on how to correct this issue?

Maybe there is a copy protection scheme in place in the game that requires the physical disk. An ISO of the disc would not pick up some of the copy protection tricks used.
Unless someone else figures a way around it, you might need a physical USB CD drive.
