For 32bit-hosts VB 5.2.44 must be used. But what´s about the VB-guest-addition? The manual says:
"Each version of Oracle VM VirtualBox, even minor releases, ship with their own version of the Guest Additions. While the interfaces through which the Oracle VM VirtualBox core communicates with the Guest Additions are kept stable so that Guest Additions already installed in a VM should continue to work when Oracle VM VirtualBox is upgraded on the host, for best results, it is recommended to keep the Guest Additions at the same version."
This means: "Old" guest-addition with updated "new" VB is o.k., although updating the guest-addition is recommended.
But what´s about the opposite: Keeping the old VB 5.2.44 for use with 32bit-hosts but using the newest guest-addition (updating the frist used old guest-addition 5.2.44 to now 6.1.18)?

Never use Guest Additions that are newer than the VirtualBox software they need to talk to.

Thanks. But before reading your answer I have done this (Guest: WinXP). Until now every works fine. But I will keep this in mind.mpack wrote:Never use Guest Additions that are newer than the VirtualBox software they need to talk to.
