Adjust window size when double click or drag and drop mouse.

Post by Forfuture2000 »

I am using Version 6.1.18 r142142 (Qt5.6.2) to use Ubuntu (64-bit) VM in windows 10.
When I double click or drag and drop mouse in the VM, the VBox adjust VM window size, that is annoying. Does anyone have any idea on this issue?

I could only imagine that somehow you're hitting the window border during the mouse clicks. But please post a log and we'll check the setup.

Start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM's OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log and the hardening log next to it, zip them, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Thank you for your reply. This issue happens when I double click anywhere in the VM. Attached file is the log.

There isn't anything glaringly wrong in the log. You have all four host cores available for the VM:
Host CPU status:
00:00:09.392147 CPUM: Logical host processors: 8 present, 8 max, 8 online, online mask: 00000000000000ff
00:00:09.392148 CPUM: Physical host cores: 4
Guest CPU settings:
00:00:07.581330 NumCPUs <integer> = 0x0000000000000004 (4)
This could cause instability or extra slowness, only to be tolerated if here is extra parallel-processing software in the VM which can fill up the extra processors. However, this would not theoretically cause the mouse-click problem.

VMDK is not the default choice for disk type for a VM made in Virtualbox:
00:00:07.527321 File system of 'C:\Users\e391738\VirtualBox VMs\F1 Dev Env (Ubuntu16) 1.x\F1 Dev Env (Ubuntu16) 1.x.vmdk' is ntfs
00:00:07.528541 File system of 'C:\Users\e391738\VirtualBox VMs\F1 Dev Env (Ubuntu16) 1.x\F1 Dev Src.vmdk' is ntfs
Was this VM imported from an OVA?

If so, please try a new VM made fresh on your Virtualbox, with a fresh install of any desired ISO (not an imported OVA), and see if the problem happens in that VM.

Thank you for your reply, this VM is new created instead of import. I am using Dell L5490 + Win10 to run virtual box. We tried to setup same VM on 3 different Dell laptop, 1 of them are good, got the same issue on the other 2.

OK, thanks. Please try a new VM on your host anyway, see what happens.

Thank you for your reply. We've found the method to fix. This issue only happens when a translator software (youdao) is open. So the fix is simple: "close that translator software when use VBox".
