Re: SOLVED: OpenGL 3 in windows guest
I converted my 2016 windows desktop used for autodesk inventor and revit into a VM on my 2020 linux laptop. Using the Mesa solution, I'm able to start the software. And even better, I don't notice any performance hit with the vm over the desktop. Rather the other way around.

VirtualBox provides OpenGL 2.1.mattp1086 wrote:Since it requires more than OpenGL 1 to render the interface, all I got was a black screen.
If you have OpenGL 1 then the Guest Additions are not installed with 3D acceleration enabled.

Thank you for the Mesa3D solution, it seems to have worked for me, too!
I encountered this for a similar reason – tried to set up SketchUp Pro 2021 (at first tried with Wine unsuccessfully).
