Windows Server 2012 guest hangs and become unresponsive after VBOX upgrade

Post by niraggi »

Hello Team,

Host OS:
Windows 10 - 21H2, x64 bits

After upgrade from Virtualbox 6.1.18 r142142 to Virtualbox 6.1.34 r150636, one Windows Server 2012 R2 guest becomes very unresponsive and laggy. I did tested another Linux VM running on VBox, and least for now are running ok.

Steps taken so far (and didn´t worked):

- Full host reboot (shutdown -r -t 00)
- Tried to update guest additions + reboot guest OS
- Changed graphics cards adapter

I reproduced the issue, and collected logs for your analysis. I see a lot of following errors:

"Guest seems to be unresponsive. Last heartbeat received 4 seconds ago"

Could you help me?

Regards.

Another option is if you want to try is the latest test builds if you need Hyper-v enabled.

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the answers.

I forget to mention that also installed Docker. However, I selected use WLS2 as backend. So, my understanding it´s not using Hyper-V backend... Also, I´m activelly using WSL (Ubuntu) on the same host.

What do you think is the best option to keep 2 using both software in the same host? (Virtualbox & Docker):

1. Try the test builds of VBox. Could you provide the links of those versions?

2. Disable Hyper-V as per the thread suggested by BillG

3. Switch to another virtualization software (ex: VMware Workstation)

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Both of these use Hyper-V.

test builds. Save the test build installer until you update again later.
