Re: beta3 crash regression from beta2
Can you try pinpointing the problem further by disabling features one-by-one to see from which area the problem comes from? Disabling 3D, audio ...

Re: beta3 crash regression from beta2
I already did that. On a freshly created VM, default settings, if I uncheck Enable Audio, the VM doesn't crash.
Also, leaving Enable Audio checked, but selecting the Null Audio Driver, the VM doesn't crash.

Re: beta3 crash regression from beta2
Could you please enable the audio debugging as described at https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/AudioDebug and attach the log to this defect when having reproduced the crash? Thanks!

Re: beta3 crash regression from beta2
Here are the logs. The first one is the crash happening when booting the ISO (the most frequent type of crash). The second one is the same crash happening at shutdown (very rarely it is able to start the GUI and then I am able to issue a shutdown command from within the guest).

I guess I found and fixed the issue. I'll provide a test build shortly.

Re: beta3 crash regression from beta2
It's not good. A different type of crash. This one crashes with audio turned off.
Later edit: It crashed two times, one with audio turned off. Now I can't reproduce the crash. Let me test it some more.

Re: beta3 crash regression from beta2
I was able to crash it a 3rd time, audio was on. The crash stack looks different, in a different thread. I don't know what triggers it. I have a full memory process dump, if you want to take a look.
Later edit: more crashes, even consecutive for the same VM. I've tried other VMs. It might be due to timing when the VM starts and tries to initialize things.

Re: beta3 crash regression from beta2
I strongly believe it's all about timing, the first 1-2 seconds after the VM window appears. I think it crashes even before the VM boot screen appears

Re: beta3 crash regression from beta2
Would it be possible to get a dump of such a crash? Thanks!
