Virtual Box fails to open VM sessions

Post by Turtleboy »

Hey guys,

I'm having issues with Virtual Box. I recently updated OSX to 10.10.4 and VirtualBox to 5.0.0. Whenever I attempt to start a vm, I get this error message:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Arch.
The virtual machine 'Arch' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {703510de-8d5e-411b-a25b-378b03382bac}

Any advice? I'm struggling to find any forums that help me.

Thanks for reading!

If you want to discuss problems with a VirtualBox beta version then please use the beta forum. And, please check for previous posts on the same topic before posting your own question.

Moving this to the beta forum.

It will open a window for a normal session, but it immediately closes and gives me the same error.

It might be because there are no official Arch Linux guest additions. Arch builds their own and you might have to wait until they catch up. Arch Linux is not a supported OS.

I forgot to mention, You can roll back to the last version of VirtualBox that worked for you. VB 4.3.28 should work.

I just tested it with another os and you are correct.

Thanks, I really appreciate the help. I haven't had any other help from anywhere else.
