Host1: Win 7 x64, RC2a, using Samba
Host2: Debian Linux 6, RC3, using Fish
Guest: Win XP, GA RC2a and RC3
Operation: copy file from host to guest.
Host1: (Windows Explorer)
source1: (works) C:\Dropbox
source2: (deadlocks) \\space\Files\Documentation\Quick_Start_Guides\v10
a Samba share / Windows File Sharing.
Dest: Guest's "C:\TEMP\"
Host2: (KDE4 Konqueror)
source1: (works) /C/Dropbox/Install/Wallpapers/suse-wallpapers
source2: (deadlocks) fish://root@localhost/C/Dropbox/Install/Wallpapers/suse-wallpapers
Fish is "Filesystem-in-SSH", a KDE trick to allow users to browse to remote locations via network, without mounting folders locally.
This OP, in both cases, is impossible to cancel. Leads to VM crash & abort.

Re: Drag-n-Drop: VM deadlock on network share copy
Just tried to reproduce -- when having a network share mapped in Windows Explorer it does not allow me dragging a file from there to the guest. How did you achieve this?

Re: Drag-n-Drop: VM deadlock on network share copy
It is NOT mapped.
I use samba share.
Not mapped is this:
\\space\Files\Documentation\Quick_Start_Guides\v10\somefile.txt
Mapped is this:
\\space\Files\Documentation\Quick_Start_Guides\v10\ ---> C:\Quick_Start_Guides\v10\somefile.txt
So I tried without mapping.
Just use Windows Explorer and browse into any SAMBA share. Then Drag-n-Drop into any VM.
