using virtualbox for recovery testing, neither WinPE 4, nor Windows 2012 Server can be installed in production or Beta version of virtualbox. WIndows boot manager window shows:

Virtualbox EFI doesn't work with Windows at the moment, switch back to BIOS

Re: Can't install Windows 2012 Server in UEFI mode
If I understand it, that workaround is not booting up the Windows VM in EFI mode, it's wrapping the main drive partitions in a legacy MBR and booting with a normal BIOS. I'm not sure how it gets around the boot manager using UUIDs to identify partitions - I assume the goal is to avoid corrupting the existing host EFI boot.
In any case the workaround seems to be a variation on the "Win7 in both VM and native" trick. I.e. it's about accessing EFI partitions in a raw disk access VM, it isn't about using EFI inside a pure VM.
