we were unable to reproduce this issue with the latest trunk. Could you try the following test build to see if the issue is solved for you with it.
If not, please attach a VM log again, and also try whether the issue goes away if you disable the 3D acceleration in VM settings.
As with BETA builds, this test build is intendet to be used for testing purposes only, and should NOT be used in production environment.

I installed the ".run" file.

Now the freeze at startup has gone.

What not work at the moment:

Visa 32/64: Crappy desktop as before

Win Server 2012: Several Crashes (restart of guest) when updating software or GA.

Is there anything i can do for you?

Does the issue happen when you disable the 3D acceleration in VM settings?
Also, if the issue happens with 3D enabled only, could you try doing the following:
1. set CR_SERVER_CAPS=0 environment variable and run a VM to see if this solves the problem for you. Please attach a VM log for this run as well.
2. set CR_SERVER_DEFAULT_RENDER_TYPE=1 environment variable and run a VM to see if this solves the problem for you. Please attach a VM log for this run as well.
NOTE: that to make these env var settings be propagated to VM process, please ensure that no VBox** and VirtualBox processes are running (via task manager), and then set environment in "My Computer"->"properties"->"Advanced system settings"->"Environment variables"->"System variables"

The hang issue is indeed fixed. We are discussing two other issues in the same thread, which caused a confusion.
I.e. the BSOD issue and desktop corruption issues are NOT fixed yet.

stefan.becker, for now let's continue discussing them in the current thread. In the future please create separate threads for separate issues, which will make it more easy for us to track them.

At the beginning for me it was one problem: Guest with 3D does not work.

As i said: Its only for Vista guests (32 and 64).

XP without 3D, Win7 (32/64) and Win 8 (32/64) are working well.

As next i will check Win 8.1.

Just tried the new Windows test build. As expected no go with Vista32/64. Disabling 3D let me see the desktop but it's seems to hang sometimes.

Workaround: Guest Additions 4.2.19-89299 from VirtualBox-4.2.19-89379-Win.exe work fine even with 3D.

Like with BETA builds, this build is intended to be used for testing purposes only, and should NOT be used is production environment.

We are unable to reproduce the 2012 server crash locally.
Please give a try to the guest additions test build I posted in my previous comment, and if you're still seeing a crash with it, please attach a minidump for your guest system crash, like I mentioned before.
Without it we won't be able to help.

Vista 3D seems to work more or less now but I still have problems. Switching from and to fullscreen doesn't work 100%. Screen will not be refreshed. Old picture (task manager, grayed out desktop) will be shown. Using Ctrl-Alt-Delete and bringing up the Task Manager fixes this. Monitor in VB will then not always show the correct resolution (in my case 1600x1200) in full screen. See the log. There it reports: w=1592 h=1089

Used the 89623 guest additions iso (seems to be mislabled and actually 89625). After installation of the guest additions I had to reset the VM. It won't reboot properly.

Let me know it I should only try again with 89593.
